John Ayres

John Ayres serves Genprex as the Associate Vice President & Associate General Counsel. John assists in the oversight of a variety of legal matters for Genprex with a particular focus on securities law compliance and corporate governance.  John has more than 17 years of experience representing and advising companies, particularly in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and life sciences industries.  John began his legal career at Latham & Watkins LLP in its Chicago office, where he specialized in public company representation and corporate transactions.  He next served as corporate and securities counsel for Amgen Inc., a publicly-traded biotechnology company headquartered in Thousand Oaks, CA.  John subsequently served in leadership roles over the past decade at two emerging growth companies, a privately-held medical device start-up as well as a publicly-traded pet therapeutics company, Aratana Therapeutics (acquired by Eli Lilly’s animal health spin-out, Elanco Animal Health).  John earned a J.D. degree from the University of Missouri and a B.A. degree in finance from Truman State University.
